CAT GROOMS

We at A-Z are Kent’s cat grooming specialists, with three members of our team qualified and experienced in cat grooming provision. We understand that cats and dogs don’t tend to mix well and we therefore have separate facilities for your pet so that they don’t experience any unnecessary stress during their visit with us. Our cat area is a one-stop-shop spa experience for your pet with bathing, dematting, grooming, ear cleaning and worming facilities on hand. You can rest assured that your cat will be treated with kindness and care during their visit to us, and to ensure a low stress environment for your pet we take a number of steps:
  •  We always use two groomers for each cat – one to hold and talk to the cat to keep them calm, and one to groom
  •  We treat the room, the treatment area, the cat and the equipment with calming scents to minimise stress
  •  We are never heavy handed – we will not scruff your cat during a groom
  •  We give your cat regular breaks during the groom to prevent them getting overwhelmed
  •  If your cat really doesn’t want to be groomed, we will not force them

FULL GROOM

Long-haired breeds and cats that struggle to groom themselves properly will benefit from this service. As most cats are notorious shedders, we seek to fully remove all deadcoat from your pet so that human laps covered in fur are a thing of the past, as well as making your cat’s coat shiny, fresh and tangle-free. Regular grooming helps to prevent matting too, which can be uncomfortable or even painful for your pet. This groom includes:
  •  Brushing for removal of undercoat
  •  Detangle and demat smaller masses
  •  Nail trimming
  •  Coat conditioner
Ideal for: All long-haired breeds including Persians, Ragdolls, Maine Coons, etc.

PARTIAL SERVICES

Not every cat that visits us for a groom needs the full works, so we do not charge for it as part of a standard groom. Instead, you can choose add-ons that you require for your cat and build up a bespoke treatment package with no unnecessary extras.

For those felines who enjoy a good bath, this can follow a standard groom so that deadcoat has already been removed. Bathing may be necessary to deal with paint, tar or other sticky smelly messes, or it can simply be a treat for extra soft and clean fur.
For cats whose faces get dirty, either through feeding or the buildup of dirt and debris around from the nose or eyes, we can clean them up with this add-on to a standard groom or as a standalone treatment. We use cleansing wipes for cats to gently wipe away stains on their fur, leaving your pet looking fresh and clean.
For those cats that require assistance in keeping their nails short we can quickly and gently trim them down with no discomfort or stress to your pet. Nails are included with a standard groom or while-you-wait as a standalone treatment.
Ensuring that minor mats and tangles are brushed out is an important part of a groom because, aesthetics aside, allowing mats to build up provides a great hiding spot for parasites and can cause soreness and skin complaints in your cat. If your cat’s coat has larger mats it may require a different approach to our standard groom. We try to brush out mats where possible but this is sometimes not sufficient to remove larger masses and it must be clipped away instead, especially where mats are close to the skin. We actually receive frequent referrals from local vets to help animals who need this treatment but cannot be sedated as would typically be required in a veterinary environment and we pride ourselves on our gentle handling and calming environment that allows us to provide this service for your cat.
We stock brushes, combs and a variety of conditioners that you can purchase to keep your cat in great condition between visits to us.

APPOINTMENTS

  •  Contact us for a discussion of your needs and a telephone estimate
