ANIMAL HEALTH CERTIFICATES

Are you planning a European holiday this year? Can you bear to leave your loyal tail wagging companions behind? If the answer is no, A-Z Animal Care can assist with an Animal Health Certificate.

62% of UK families own a pet and over half of them take their pets with them on holiday. The legal and logistical matters to get your furry friends to Europe with you can be overwhelming, but don’t worry we are here to make this a smooth and stress-free process.

I have a pet passport; do I still need an Animal Health Certificate?

Yes, the Animal Health Certificate has replaced the Pet Passport. You can no longer use a Pet Passport to travel with your four-legged family member.

How do I get an Animal Health Certificate?

You must take your pet to the vet to issue the certificate no more than 10 days before you travel.   Here at A-Z Animal Care we have an Official Veterinarian who will sign the certificate in order for it to be valid.

What will the vet need from me?

When you visit the vet, you’ll need to take with you with your pet’s microchipping date and vaccination history.

Your pet’s vaccination history must include an inactive or recombinant rabies vaccine which can’t be given until they are 12 weeks old and must be given at least 21 days before travel.

How long will teh certificate be valid?

Your pet will need a new Animal Health Certificate for each trip to an EU country or Northern Ireland from Great Britain.

How can we help?

At this time, we are only issuing documentation for travel to Europe where your point of entry is France. If you are travelling to Europe via France, we can offer a full Animal Health Certificate service. We are conveniently located 22 miles from the Folkestone Eurotunnel terminal so could even book you in en-route.

We would be more than happy to talk you through the process.
